NorthPort forward Sean Anthony is currently listed as day-to-day after suffering a left ankle injury in Game 1 of the Batang Pier's best-of-three PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals matchup opposite San Miguel.
"Sean's status is day-to-day. We will see whether he can play in Game 2," Batang Pier head coach Pido Jarencio told ESPN5.com. An additional team source who asked not to be named said there's "mild swelling" around the foot of the Batang Pier's team captain.
Anthony sustained the injury when he stumbled by his lonesome during a fastbreak in the fourth quarter last Sunday. He then crumpled to the floor in obvious pain at around the 6:00 mark of the final frame.
He was helped off the court and did not return - ultimately winding up with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. NorthPort narrowly lost, 87-88, on Alex Cabagnot's game-winner.
With his status up in the air, the veteran is pinning the Batang Pier's hopes on his teammates, believing they could force a rubber match with or without him come Game 2 on Thursday.
"[We] must bounce back. We did a great job fighting back. We just have to close out the game. I have full trust in our guys," Anthony told News5's Lyn Olavario.
