Harvard Crimson @ Cornell Big Red
Cornell rallies late to turn back Harvard 28-24
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Harold Coles ran 34 yards for a touchdown and Dalton Banks connected with Owen Peters for a 33-yard score, both in the final 7:03, to rally Cornell for 28-24 victory over Harvard in Ivy League play on Saturday.
Jake McIntyre's 42-yard field goal late in the third quarter and a 29-yard TD toss from Tom Stewart to Henry Taylor with 10:13 remaining in the game gave the Crimson (2-2, 1-1) a 24-14 lead.
But Banks went to work for the Big Red (2-2, 1-1), directing a seven-play 75-yard drive -- capped by Coles' TD run with 3:11 remaining -- to pull Cornell within 24-21. After the Big Red forced a three-and-out, Mike Catanese ran twice for 17 yards, Coles added a 13-yard run and Banks capped the four-play drive with his TD strike to Peters with 1:45 remaining.
Catanese finished with 75 yards on 12 carries and Coles added 70 yards on 15 totes against the Crimson, who came into the game allowing just 50 yards on the ground per game, tops in the nation.
Aaron Shampklin rushed for 191 yards and a TD for Harvard.
