      Gavin Swankie double helps Forfar on their way to League 1 play-off final

      Gavin Swankie scored twice to send Forfar into the Ladbrokes League 1 play-off final against Peterhead after a 4-2 win over Annan and 6-4 aggregate victory. The hosts took a 12th minute lead when breaking from an Annan corner and Martyn Fotheringham played in Swankie to fire home from 12 yards.And it was two goals in the space of five minutes shortly before the interval that effectively decided the tie.Danny Denholm drilled home in the 32nd minute before Swankie found the top left-hand corner to put the hosts into a comfortable 3-0 lead.Aidan Smith pulled one back five minutes after the break, having picked himself up after being fouled by Grant Adam to slot home from from the spot.Darren Ramsay then gave Annan hope with 23 minutes remaining as his left-footed effort nestled in the bottom corner of the net.But Jamie Bain settled it five minutes later, turning the ball home when Swankie picked him out.

        Forfar fight back from two goals down to secure play-off draw at Annan

        Forfar struck back with two late goals to remain in with a chance of promotion after a 2-2 Scottish League One play-off first-leg draw against Annan at Galabank.The home side got off to a flying start and were two goals to the good within 16 minutes.Peter Weatherson headed home Aidan Smith's cross at the near post to hand the Black and Golds the lead after just four minutes.The provider turned scorer 12 minutes later, after Forfar goalkeeper Grant Adam brought the Queen of the South loanee down in the penalty box - Smith's spot-kick was saved but the 19-year-old fired home the rebound to double the lead.The visitors fought back with two goals late on, though.Michael Travis pulled one back with a close-range header after 81 minutes and, moments later, Martyn Fotheringham equalised by firing a free-kick into the top-right corner to leave it level ahead of Saturday's return leg at Station Park.

          Dundee 7-0 Forfar Athletic

          Dundee hammered Forfar in the Betfred League Cup but it was not enough for a place in the last 16.Paul Hartley's side ran riot with a 7-0 rout at Dens Park but that only saw them finish third as Peterhead topped Group A, with East Fife in second.But the Dark Blues will hope to take confidence from the victory ahead of their Ladbrokes Premiership opener away to Ross County next weekend.They put three goals past Garry Bollan's League Two visitors by half-time before hitting another four after the break.Paul McGowan put them on their way before Michael Duffy, a Greg Stewart double, Julen Etxabeguren, substitute Rory Loy and Yordi Teijsse added to the scoreline - but Dundee's seven-point tally was were not enough to finish as one of the four best second-placed sides.Dundee took the lead in simple fashion on 18 minutes. Stewart released McGowan, who beat the Loons' offside trap before calmly lifting his finish over the head of advancing keeper Grant Adam.And they doubled their lead in the 35th minute when on-loan Celtic attacker Duffy's 25-yard rocket from Stewart's pass flew high past the helpless Adam.Stewart killed the contest six minutes before half-time with a close-range finish through Adam's legs after his initial header had been saved.Etxabeguren made it 4-0 on 55 minutes. Teijsse's header from William's corner was saved on the line by Adam, but the Spaniard bundled home the rebound.Stewart hit the fifth with an unstoppable finish high into the net from 22 yards after a back-heel from substitute Craig Wighton.Loy got in on the act with a 72nd-minute diving header from Cammy Kerr's cross, before Teijsse completed the rout with a back-post header for his first goal for the club.ends

            Brechin sink bottom side Forfar

            Brechin made it three wins in a row with a 2-1 Ladbrokes League One victory over bottom club Forfar in a match that saw both teams finish with 10 men.Brechin made a bright start and Robert Thomson saw an early effort saved by Darren Hill and Jamie Robson then fired a shot narrowly wide.The hosts forced their way back into the game and Steven Craig and Andy Ryan both went close.Darren McCormack sent a close-range header narrowly wide before Thomson was also off target with another attempt.And in first-half stoppage time, Brechin went ahead when McCormack got on the end of Liam Watt's delivery to head home from close range.Ryan was dismissed for a second booking early in the second half and Brechin wrapped up victory two minutes from time when Jamie Robson latched onto Willie Dyer's cross to fire home before Craig Molloy was sent off for Brechin in time added on.Danny Denholm then headed home a late consolation for the hosts.

              Forfar relegated as Albion edge five-goal thriller

              Albion won a topsy-turvy encounter 3-2 to keep their play-off hopes alive and condemn opponents Forfar to relegation.Beginning the day two points adrift of Brechin at the bottom, Forfar needed to help themselves and they made a dream start when Danny Denholm was sent through one-on-one against home keeper Ross Stewart to open the scoring inside 50 seconds.But the lead lasted just six minutes before a defensive mix-up gifted Ally Love a close-range equaliser - and he then turned provider as Scott McBride headed Albion in front, still inside the opening 20 minutes.Forfar levelled on the hour mark as Kyle Turnbull fouled Denholm in the box and Andy Ryan tucked away the penalty. But Ross Stewart's brilliant save from Scott Martin kept Albion on terms and though Love missed from close range, he then provided the corner for Michael Dunlop to head the winner.The result leaves Albion alongside Airdrie on 46 points, two behind fourth-placed Stranraer with one game to go.

                Michael Moffat's missed penalty costs him a hat-trick and Dunfermline a victory

                Dunfermline striker Michael Moffat missed a stoppage-time penalty that would have given him a hat-trick as Forfar claimed a 2-2 draw and picked up a vital point in their survival fight.Moffat scored twice for the already-crowned League One champions but then missed twice from the spot late on, blasting his first effort over before seeing a retaken attempt pushed on to the post by goalkeeper Darren Hill.Gavin Swankie's 13th-minute free-kick crept in to give the struggling visitors a lead that lasted until half-an-hour in when Ryan Wallace fed Moffat to open his account for the afternoon.Forfar led again through Andy Ryan 10 minutes after the break but Moffat's 15th of the season made it 2-2 on the hour-mark.Forfar's Thomas O'Brien was then sent off in stoppage time for violent conduct before Moffat missed the chance to claim a treble and all three points.
