Ipswich's impressive start continues with win over 10-man Crystal Palace
Zian Flemming's first goal for Ipswich snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory at 10-man Crystal Palace for their second Premier League win of the season.
The Eagles played the majority of the contest at Selhurst Park a man light following Axel Disasi's red card in the first half, as they fell to their third loss in four league games following an absorbing contest.
Jorgen Strand Larsen had deservedly drawn them level to cancel out the hugely influential Leif Davis' header just ahead of half-time before Flemming's late intervention ended the Tractor Boys' run of two straight defeats.
Goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen almost had another difficult moment early in his Ipswich career when he passed straight to Adam Wharton 30 yards out, but the midfielder scuffed the ball right back to the relieved Dutchman.
But Palace were ahead after 14 minutes when Daichi Kamada received the ball in space in the centre and moved it right for Anan Khalaili, with the Israeli's first goal in English football taking a slight deflection off Davis on its way in.
Khalaili almost turned provider three minutes later when his long pass put Strand Larsen in behind, with Scherpen required to beat away his half-volley.
Completely against the run of play, Ipswich equalised in the 23rd minute when Davis swung in a cross from the left and Emersonn was left unmarked to head in his second goal for the Tractor Boys.
The match took another turn towards the visitors when the Eagles were reduced to 10 men on 34 minutes when Disasi was shown a straight red card for a dangerous, studs-up tackle on Jack Clarke.
Ipswich made the most of their one-man advantage to take the lead in the 45th minute when Dara O'Shea's cross was flicked on by Emersonn and Davis arrived around the back to head past Walter Benítez.
The Tractor Boys pressed to add to their lead against their depleted opponents early in the second half, with Clarke having a shot saved by Benitez at his near post.
Palace found a second wind, though, as Quinten Timber battled his way into the area before shooting at Scherpen, with the crowd responding accordingly to their teams' renewed vigour.
It brought an equaliser in the 75th minute when Kamada played the ball into the area for Strand Larsen, who turned away from Issa Diop before shooting across Scherpen into the bottom corner.
The Eagles almost went ahead four minutes later when Scherpen's flap from Will Hughes' cross fell for Khalaili who blazed over from six yards out.
Instead, it was Ipswich who snatched all three points in the 90th minute as Davis' header from Julio Enciso's cross looped against the bar and substitute Flemming forced in the rebound.
