Mumbai City player-coach Nicolas Anelka was on the pitch for all 90 minutes but could not spark his side to a win in a goalless draw against Pune City on Friday.
Anelka fired a powerful shot on target in the 71st minute that was caught by Pune City goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharja, while Adrian Mutu was a constant threat for the visitors.
The point took Pune City joint-top on 15 points, though they have played one more game than FC Goa.
Mumbai are in sixth place but only three points back.
It was only the second goalless draw in the 36 Indian Super League games played so far this season.
