Las Palmas beat Sporting Gijon to move into eighth place
Las Palmas moved into eighth place in La Liga with a 1-0 home victory over Sporting Gijon on Saturday.
Nabil El Zhar settled the contest from close range after 55 minutes, the former Liverpool man's third goal of the season.
The result moved the hosts above Eibar into a lofty position in the top half of the table.
Sporting Gijon remained in the relegation zone on goal difference behind Valencia, who have two games in hand.
