Molson scores 23, leads Canisius past Saint Peter's 70-58
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Takal Molson tossed in 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, to guide Canisius to a 70-58 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday night.
Jermaine Crumpton scored 14 and became the 17th player in school history to top 1,300 career points. Selvedin Planincic added 11 points and five rebounds for the Golden Griffins (10-8, 4-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Canisius won for the sixth time in seven games and improved to 6-1 at home this season. The Golden Griffins won just seven games on their home floor last season.
Davauhnte Turner topped the Peacocks (8-8, 2-3) with 12 points, while Elijah Gonzales scored 10. Saint Peter's shot just 38 percent from the floor and made 6 of 23 3-pointers (26 percent).
Molson hit all four of his 3s in the first half when he scored 16 to help Canisius take a 38-29 lead at halftime. The Peacocks got no closer than six points after intermission.
The Golden Griffins hit 52 percent from the floor (25 of 48) and buried 8 of 23 from distance (35 percent).
