Broman, Winthrop take 85-58 win over UNC Asheville
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Anders Broman made three 3-pointers and scored 19 points in leading Winthrop to an 85-58 victory over UNC Asheville on Thursday night.
Xavier Cooks added 15 points, Josh Ferguson 13, Kyle Zunic 12 and Adam Pickett 10 for the Eagles (10-8, 4-3 Big South), who have won three straight while ending a three-game win streak for the Bulldogs (11-9, 4-3).
Ahmad Thomas scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs with Marcio Teague adding 14 points. While Winthrop made 11 of 26 3-point attempts, the Bulldogs hit just 4 of 22.
A 13-0 run, with five points from Broman, gave Winthrop a 35-14 lead with four minutes in the first half. The lead stayed in double figures, reaching a game-high 33, 72-39, after an 8-0 spurt that began with two free throws and a jumper from Broman.
