Wallace, Jackson spark UTSA rally, shock Old Dominion 74-73
SAN ANTONIO -- Keaton Wallace scored 29 points and hit a corner 3-pointer, his ninth, with 15 seconds remaining and UTSA completed an 18-point comeback in the last three minutes to defeat Old Dominion 74-73 on Saturday and claim first place in Conference USA.
Old Dominion, which led for all but 30 seconds, had three chances for a game-winner in the final nine seconds but missed. The comeback is believed to be the largest in UTSA's program history.
Jhivvan Jackson scored 10 of his 21 points in the rally, Wallace scored nine as the Roadrunners (12-9, 6-2) closed on a 22-6 run, making 6 of 9 3-pointers with two steals. The Monarchs (16-6, 6-3) had just two field goal attempts, making one, and were 4 of 10 at the line as the lead crumbled.
B.J. Stith scored to give Old Dominion a 69-52 lead with 3:44 to go. He scored 23 for the Monarchs and pulled down 12 rebounds. Ahmad Caver added 20 points and 10 boards. Xavier Green scored 17.
UTSA shot 52 percent from distance, making 16 of 31.
