Reeves, Lofton lead Florida's 82-48 rout of Ohio
TAMPA, Fla. -- — Kowacie Reeves scored a season-high 20 points off the bench, Kyle Lofton added 15 points, and Florida routed Ohio 82-48 on Wednesday night at Amalie Arena, home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
Reeves hit on 7 of 11 shots, made a career-high four 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds. Lofton added seven assists. Alex Fudge had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, and Trey Bonham scored 12 points for the Gators (7-4).
Lofton had 12 points and Reeves scored 10 points to lead Florida to a 42-18 halftime lead. The Gators had a 17-0 scoring run, shot 50% and made 14 of 17 free throws in the first half.
Already leading 68-37 with 7:05 remaining, the Gators pushed the lead to 40 with a 12-3 run in which Fudge scored seven points.
Only three players made a basket for Ohio in the first 27 minutes of play. Dwight Wilson III scored 11 points, AJ Brown eight and Jaylin Hunter six before Aidan Hadaway made a layup with 12:43 remaining in the second half. The Bobcats trailed 58-28 at that point.
Brown finished with 14 points and Wilson had 13 for the Bobcats (5-5).
The game was played a week after Connecticut rolled to a 21-point win over Florida in Gainesville. Florida starters Lofton (8.4 ppg) and Will Richard (12.1 ppg) both went scoreless in that game. Richard scored three points against Ohio.
