South Carolina State beats Morgan State 74-59
BALTIMORE -- Damani Applewhite had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Patrell Rogers added 15 points and nine rebounds with five assists and South Carolina State beat Morgan State 74-59 on Monday night.
James Richardson chipped in 10 points for South Carolina State (8-15, 4-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Bulldogs made 47 percent of their shots and hit 17 of 25 free throws.
South Carolina State trailed 33-32 at the break but a breakaway dunk by Richardson gave the Bulldogs a 65-47 lead with less than five minutes to go. The Bears were outscored 42-26 after halftime.
Tiwian Kendley scored 21 points for Morgan State (8-13, 4-4). Phillip Carr had 10 points, on 4-of-15 shooting, and 12 rebounds and Martez Cameron added 11 points with five assists.
The Bears fell to 6-1 at home this season.
