Skateboarder Means finally captures elusive gold

Christiana Means had her moment in the 30th Southeast Asian Games as she finally earned herself a gold medal after winning the skateboarding women's park event Sunday in Tagaytay.

Means, who took home a pair of silver medals in the two previous skating events behind Margielyn Didal, was able to have a breakthrough in the park competition and earn the top prize.

Means scored an 11.2, eclipsing the output of silver medalist Nyimas Cinta of Indonesia who had a 10.76. Bronze medalist Neepa Pramesti, also hailing from Indonesia, had a score of 8.10,

Means wasn't the only one who took home the gold for the Philippines on Sunday as other Filipino skaters also excelled in the final day of the skateboarding events.

Jericho Francisco topped the men's division of the street event with his tally of 42.20. Indonesia's Jason Lunzaat claimed silver with his score of 33.33, followed by Thailand's Brian Van Upapong who had 26.33.

The Philippines also ruled the downhill event in the men's division as Jaime De Lange and Duke Pandeagua finished 1-2. Malaysia's Shahrafidz Luqman Hakimi Ahmad ended up winning the bronze.

Rydelle Grace Abarico was able to nab the bronze medal in the women's division while teammate Abigail Viloria failed to make the podium.

Filipino skaters have produced a total of six gold medals in the inaugural staging of skateboarding in the SEA Games.
