Cain, Nebraska women beat No. 25 Rutgers 52-42
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Kate Cain scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Jasmine Cincore added 11 and seven to help Nebraska beat No. 25 Rutgers 52-42 on Sunday night.
The Cornhuskers (14-6, 5-2 Big Ten) have won five of their last six games, including back-to-back victories against ranked opponents. After losing 69-64 in overtime to then-No. 23 Michigan on Jan. 13, Nebraska beat No. 20 Iowa 74-69 74-65 on Tuesday.
Rutgers (17-5, 3-2) trimmed its deficit to 45-42 when Nigia Greene hit a 3-pointer with 5:56 to play, but the Scarlet Knights went scoreless from there, missing all six of their field-goal attempts and committing two turnovers as Nebraska closed on a 7-0 run.
Tyler Scaife had 20 points for Rutgers, which had its 12-game home win streak snapped. The Scarlet Knights shot just 29 percent (17 of 58) from the field, including 3 of 12 from 3-point range, and made 5 of 11 from the free-throw line.
Nebraska's Maddie Simon converted a 3-point play and then hit a jumper to spark a 7-0 spurt that made it 11-6 and Rutgers trailed the rest of the way.
The Huskers have won eight in a row away from home.
