Demery, Oliva lift St. Joseph's past Fordham 68-46
PHILADELPHIA -- James Demery and Pierfrancesco Oliva combined for 47 points and 15 rebounds and Saint Joseph's took control in the second half to defeat Fordham 68-46 on Saturday.
Dembery had 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Hawks (9-9, 4-3 Atlantic 10). Oliva added a career-high 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Joseph Chartouny and Prokop Slanina had 11 points for the Rams (6-13, 1-6).
Saint Joseph's led 28-27 at the half despite shooting 32 percent. Fordham shot 36 percent and the teams combined to go 8 of 32 behind the arc. Back-to-back layups by Oliva capped an 8-0 run and gave Saint Joseph's a 45-33 lead at the 11:04 mark. The lead stayed around 10 until the Hawks scored 11 straight en route to a game-closing 15-2 run.
The teams finished 14 of 60 from distance and Fordham had 20 turnovers.
