Kinziger's buzzer beater lifts Illinois State over Missouri State 75-74
NORMAL, Ill. -- — Johnny Kinziger scored 20 points and hit a jumper at the buzzer to lift Illinois State over Missouri State 75-74 on Wednesday night.
Following a timeout with 2.7 seconds left, Kinziger took an inbound pass and his jumper hit nothing but net.
Kinziger shot 8 for 14, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc for the Redbirds (15-15, 9-10 Missouri Valley Conference). Malachi Poindexter also scored 20 points, shooting 8 for 15, including 4 for 10 from beyond the arc. Myles Foster had 16 points and shot 7 of 13 from the field.
The Bears (15-15, 7-12) were led by Donovan Clay, who recorded 21 points and seven rebounds. Missouri State also got 21 points and five assists from Alston Mason. N.J. Benson also recorded 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
