Cole's strong game lifts No. 18 Georgia women past Vandy
ATHENS, Ga. -- Taja Cole had 11 points, seven assists and a career-high five steals, and No. 18 Georgia turned back Vanderbilt 67-55 on Thursday night.
Mackenzie Engram also had 11 points and Que Morrison added 10 on 5-of-6 shooting for the Bulldogs (21-3, 9-2 Southeastern Conference). Caliya Robinson had 11 rebounds.
Kayla Overbeck had a career-high 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting for the Commodores (6-19, 2-9). Her teammates were 11 of 41.
Georgia used a late 9-2 run to lead 21-12 after one quarter. The Bulldogs had a 9-0 run, capped by Cole's 3-point play, and led 36-25 at the half. An early 9-0 run in the third quarter pushed the lead to 18 and it was 53-37 heading into the fourth quarter.
In addition to the poor shooting, Vanderbilt had 20 turnovers the Bulldogs turned into 17 points.
