Papi Sarr has issued a public apology following a reported assault that resulted in his expulsion from Adamson on Thursday.
The Cameroonian student-athlete posted his statement on his Facebook account after being released from his detainment.
"I would like to apologize to you all for this unfortunate event. Those of you who know me personally know that it was not intentional," he wrote.
According to multiple reports, including that of school paper The Adamson Chronicle, Sarr charged at athletic director Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM after he handed the 24-year-old center a dismissal letter.
Reports added that Sarr was subsequently arrested after allegedly grabbing Suan by the scruff of his neck and trying to dump the crumpled letter inside the priest's shirt.
"I love this school and would not have spent seven years of my life here no matter what happened before. It is never my intention to be disrespectful to the priests, to my team and to you all," he continued. "Raising my voice due to emotion and throwing the letter that I received this morning was unsportsmanlike. Again I'm sorry for the hurt my action have caused you."
The letter was issued after Sarr incurred multiple infractions for "misbehavior and missing team practices without reasonable excuses." Prior to that, the center also apparently violated the school's curfew policy nine times from January to February this year.
Sarr had one year of eligibility left prior to the attack and is also handling the player agency managed by his late fiancee Sheryl Reyes. For UAAP Season 82 he was replaced as team's foreign athlete by Dimercai Lenda. The Falcons stumbled to a 4-10 finish and missed the Final Four.
