Title battle will go down to the wire - Toto Wolff

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is convinced the title battle between his two drivers will go down to the final race after Nico Rosberg's clawed back seven points with victory in Canada.

Rosberg now trails his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton by 10 points after winning three of the last four races. His win in Austria was backed up by strong pace throughout the weekend and Wolff believes Rosberg's critics were wrong to write him off after the first four races.

"I remember that the question came up about whether that would be the tipping point and he would become No.2 and I kept repeating that he is mentally very strong - particularly strong - and we have seen that today," Wolff said. "Most of the time they were under pressure because they kept pushing each other, we saw that in qualifying yesterday and then he was faultless today and had great speed during the race. I would just say he has that strength and it's going to go down to the wire."

But Wolff does not think the mistakes both drivers made in qualifying and the mistake Hamilton made crossing the pit lane exit line in the race were down to pressure.

"No, I don't think they are feeling the pressure of the overall championship yet. They are definitely pushing very hard in order to beat each other and you rarely see someone coming with the locked, smoking wheels into the stands, because you could well miss the line and get a penalty and equally on the exit. It's just the result of a very fierce battle between them."
