Nico Rosberg: Tyre situation still 'a bit worrying'

Nico Rosberg admitted he still has concerns about the possibility of tyre problems at the Belgian Grand Prix after being beaten to pole by Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg suffered a high-speed rear tyre blowout during FP2, though a Pirelli investigation found it came from an external source. Despite Pirelli's findings Rosberg is still not reassured there will not be a repeat during Sunday's grand prix.

"The problem is, we don't really understand it," Rosberg said about Friday's failure. "There's theories, but there's no real evidence and so that's a bit worrying. But we're keeping a very close eye on it and we've done some measures to make sure that it doesn't happen again. So we've done the best we can and just hope that it all works out and all stays together."

Rosberg ended up losing out on pole position by over four tenths and he admits he had no answer to Hamilton's laps in Q3.

"Lewis was just too quick in the end and just found the little bit, or quite a lot extra, which I didn't have in my pocket, so that's it. Of course, disappointing, but then again with the new start situation we're having to do everything ourselves now, there's a lot more opportunities tomorrow, even at the start and the run down to turn five. You know here, it's possible to overtake, we've seen it happen many, many times so my hopes are for sure, still high."
