Fernando Alonso is targeting his third haul of points this season at the Singapore Grand Prix after qualifying 12th in the McLaren.
It was his best qualifying result of the season and he is confident he can convert it a top ten finish, which he has only managed at the British and Hungarian Grands Prix.
"Points," he said when asked what was possible on Sunday. "I think we start in a good position to get some points. The race here is quite tough, very demanding on the mechanical side, also on the driver's side, so there's no room for mistakes. We have to do a perfect race tomorrow and hopefully be in the points."
Alonso had been in the top ten during practice, but he said he was not surprised to see his rivals up their pace in qualifying.
"I think practice is practice and when qualifying arrives, I think everyone presses some kind of magic button to get some extra power and we don't have that yet. So we are able to fight with the midfield pack here and we are happy, without the yellow flag I think 11th or 12th would have been a realistic position.
"Half a second from the top ten I think is the position we deserve. I felt comfortable, I feel competitive this weekend, in qualifying the difference with Jenson is the biggest of the year, so I have nothing to complain about this weekend."
