Haas F1 will announce its second driver for its debut season in 2016 on October 30 in Mexico, suggesting it will be Ferrari reserve driver Esteban Gutierrez.

Ferrari reserve Gutierrez has been considered favourite for a seat for some time due to Haas' technical partnership with the Italian team. The Mexican driver, who drove for Sauber in 2013 and 2014, would fulfil team boss Gene Haas' desire to have a North American driver at the team next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Haas said: "We're going to make an announcement in Mexico City on Friday night."

When pressed on who it would be, Haas laughed and said: "I think you can work that one out!"

The announcement will come after the opening two practice sessions of the Mexican Grand Prix weekend. The Mexico race returned to the calendar this season after a 22-year absence.

Current Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has already been confirmed for Haas.
