MONTREAL, Canada -- Kevin Magnussen has been ruled out of qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix after damaging his car during final practice.

Magnussen slammed into the barriers at the exit of Turn 7, ripping off the left-hand side suspension and damaging his left sidepod. Renault attempted to fix the car in time for Q1 but the job proved too big and, while Magnussen was unharmed, he was forced to watch the session from the team's hospitality unit.

Magnussen is expected to start from last place on the grid, pending confirmation from the stewards.
