Storm Queens crush Ice Divas to open account

Women's Kabaddi Challenge

Storm Queens produced a solid defensive performance as they beat Ice Birds 21-15 to record their first win of the season. Deepika Joseph and Sonali Ingale marshaled the Storm Queens defence superbly and scored five points each. Storm Queens, however, remain bottom of the table with eight points from three games, while Ice Divas are at the top, with 11 points from four.

Ice Divas struggled in the first half as they failed to score a single raid point, allowing Storm Queens to cruise into a 6-2 lead after 10 minutes. Ice Divas' defenders forced a super tackle to momentarily cut the deficit, but Storm Queens inflicted an all out in the 13th minute to lead 13-4 as Tejaswini Bai scored a two-point raid.

Storm Queens went into half-time leading 14-6, and they soon increased that advantage to 17-7, with Ingale scoring four points and Deepika collecting three. Ice Divas' defence tried hard to get tackle points, but with their raiders struggling, Storm Queens were hardly threatened. Deepika eventually achieved a high five as Storm Queens ran out comfortable winners.
