LOS ANGELES -- Kentucky forward Marcus Lee had a headache and nosebleed following a collision that kept him out of all but the first few minutes of the No. 1 Wildcats' 87-77 loss to UCLA, coach John Calipari said Thursday night.
"He got hit in the face," Calipari said, noting that he didn't see the play that sent Lee to the bench at the 15:39 mark of the first half. "It must've been a pretty good whack, because his nose was bleeding and he had a headache, so we were afraid to do anything with him."
During the game, team officials said Lee, who is averaging 8.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, had an undisclosed head injury.
He went to the locker room and did not return to the bench during the Bruins' upset at Pauley Pavilion. His status for Kentucky's next game, Dec. 9 versus Eastern Kentucky, was not disclosed.
