India's SSP Chawrasia recovered well to register his second successive round of level-par 71, taking his total to level-par 142, while Anirban Lahiri shot 2-over 73 to take his tally up to 5-over 147 after the second round of the men's individual golf at the Rio Olympics.

Chawrasia made a poor start to his second round, with a bogey on the 486-yard par-four 2nd and the 351-yard par-four 3rd. He then followed up with birdies on the par-three 4th and the par-five 5th.

Chawrasia would then go back to level par with a birdie on the 172-yard par-three 8th. Another on the 369-yard par-four 9th took him under par for the first time on day two, but then he followed with bogeys on the par-five 10th and the par-four 11th. Chawrasia was able to get back to level par on the par-three 17th. He found himself tied-30th at the end of 36 holes.

Lahiri's performance on the day was marred by a sequence of four bogeys on five holes between the par-three 4th and the par-three 8th - although he was able to sink a birdie on the 196-yard par-three 6th - and he slipped further with a bogey on the par-three 14th. However, he finished with birdies on the 303-yard par-four 16th and the 571-yard par-five 18th to finish tied-51st.

Meanwhile, Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh shot an impressive 1-under 70, including four birdies and three bogeys, to bring himself to 3-over 145 and a share of the 46th place.
