SUBIC -- Princess Arbilon and Samuel German added a gold to the Philippines' medal haul after topping the mixed relay beach laser-run of the 30th Southeast Asian Games modern pentathlon on Thursday.
Arbilon and Samuel clocked 13 minutes and 59.54 seconds to beat four others in the event graced by Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez.
Thailand's pair of Muktapa Changhin and Narong Deck Taparak came in second after posting 13:28.32. Indonesia's aces Cintya Nariska and Frada Saleh won the bronze (13:59.54).
"We told ourselves we will bounce back in this event because we fell short in the indivual category earlier," said Samuel.
Earlier in the day, Samuel settled for a silver medal while Arbilon placed fourth in the men's and women's individual tiff, respectively.
And what a way to rebound from lackluster performances Thursday morning.
"I didn't expect to win a goal. We just tried to correct our mistakes earlier," said Arbilon.
Indonesia scored a twin gold mints in the individual events.
Indonesia's Muhammad Taufik ruled the event with a time of 13 minutes and 2.24 seconds while Samuel finished the race in 13:27.29 to snag the silver.
Accuracy will also be tested in the event, with the players needing to hit the target from 10 meters away four times.
