CAPAS, Tarlac -- A pair of golds in the men's and women's division punctuated a massive rebound by the Philippines in the wakeboarding event at the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Having secured only one medal in the 2017 edition of the regional meet, the Filipinos turned in a more convincing finish this year by winning 6 of 15 medals, edging Thailand (5) in the event's overall tally.
Susan Larsson starred in the women's wakeskate final open category by dominating the opposition with of 54.33 points and 61.00 points in two runs. Thailand and Singapore followed suit.
Jhondi Wallace also topped the podium in the men's event, where he posted runs of 42.67 and 70.33 points to edge Thailand (40.00, 67.00) and fellow Filipino Christian Joson (58.33, 64.33) for gold.
Samantha Bermudez finished behind Thailand in the women's wakeboard final open for a silver, while Raphael Trinidad and Ralph Gelo Villaro went 2-3 in the men's category to round out the Philippine's medal haul.
Thailand also bagged two golds after its bets in the men's and women's wakeboarding events.
