FIBA 3x3 World Cup Day 1 results: Spain, China go 2-0 in women's division

The Philippine women's team made its debut in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup on Friday at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. They lost in their opener against Netherlands, 21-11 and then unfortunately fell again in their next game versus Germany, 12-10, despite showing incredible heart and resiliency.

China and Spain were the only two teams in the women's division that remained unscathed after two games. Top- ranked China won fiercely fought battles against France and Switzerland to lead Pool B. Spain got their wins against Germany and Hungary to pace Pool D. Switzerland's Marielle Giroud scored the most points in the women's group with 20 points.

In the men's division, seventh-ranked Poland raced to a 2-0 lead in Pool B after defeating Indonesia and Slovenia. Poland's Michael Hicks was the day's top performer with 18 points in two games. Estonia likewise got back-to-back wins with victories over Japan and Indonesia to keep in step with Poland in Pool B.

Latvia and Croatia of Pool D both earned two wins to lead the pool with identical 2-0 records. Latvia's Kārlis Lasmanis and Croatia's Ivan Raśetina were the second leading scorers in the Men's with 17 points apiece.
