7:11pm That will be all for this game. But this New Year's Day just keeps getting better in the BBL, with the Hobart Hurricanes welcoming the Perth Scorchers. Join Alex Malcolm for all the action there. Until next time, from Raghav, Vairavan and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye!

Sean Abbott, Player of the Match: I felt it was a bowling-friendly wicket. They (the Renegades) showed good signs of keeping the score up. The way they (Babar and Davies) batted at the end, thought they went about it really well. Good to see him (Davies) go out there and get the runs. We know how talented he is. I felt it was a tough wicket. Babar had to go through a stage (at the start where he found it tough).

7:07pm A comfortable run-chase in the end. Babar, of course, will take a few of the plaudits for his fifty but this chase was as much about the cameos around him as it was about Pakistan's batting superstar. Davies' cameo, in particular, knocked the stuffing out of the Renegades. Henriques did his bit too, especially during the Power Surge and that meant Babar could bat inside his bubble, free of the stress of the scoring rate.

The Renegades, as it turned out, just did not have enough runs on the board. They tried to put pressure on the Sixers by restricting the run-rate early but when the Sixers, armed with great batting depth, came at the hosts, there was not much they could do.

Tye to Babar Azam, FOUR, up and over, and Babar takes the Sixers past the finish line on the first day of the year! Back of a length outside off. Babar stands up tall and muscles it over mid off. Not his most elegant stroke or his most free-flowing innings but he has gotten the job done, and he was there right at the end to seal the deal too!
