Alexa Stonehouse, the Warwickshire seamer, has been called into England women's squad for the final two matches of their ODI series against New Zealand, following injury setbacks to two of their chosen fast bowlers, Em Arlott and Issy Wong.
Stonehouse, 21, has been in strong form for Warwickshire in the ongoing Metro Bank One-Day Cup, claiming eight wickets at 25.12 in five appearances, including three-wicket hauls in each of her last two outings against Durham and Somerset.
She will join up with the England squad in Northampton in time for training on Tuesday, and could be in line to make her international debut in either of the remaining two ODIs, at Wantage Road on Wednesday and Cardiff on Saturday.
That follows the withdrawal of Arlott due to concussion protocols, and with Wong undergoing further assessment on a hamstring injury.
Arlott suffered her injury after being struck on the head in the nets at Chester-le-Street on Saturday, while Wong was belatedly replaced by Lauren Filer for England's opening match, a tense one-wicket win on Sunday, after feeling stiffness in her hamstring during the pre-match warm-ups.
Wong, who was last week confirmed in England's 15-player squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, has since been sent for a scan, raising concerns about her fitness for the tournament, with England's opening match against Sri Lanka looming in just over a month's time, on June 12.
England are already missing their captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is recovering from a tear to her left calf. Charlie Dean led the ODI team in her absence, and was named player of the match after guiding the team to victory in the series opener with an unbeaten 31.
