The IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa in December, the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Wednesday.
"This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations - Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year - we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December," Saikia told ANI.
Cricinfo had reported last week that the auction for IPL 2027 would take place in the second week of December. It will be the last mini-auction of the 2023-27 cycle.
In 2024, the IPL had announced that the 2027 edition would be held in the window between March 14 and May 30. After the BCCI AGM last week, Saikia told media that the season would start end of March. The official dates have not been confirmed yet.
Ahead of the next IPL, there have already been player movements and changes in personnel for some teams.
Rishabh Pant returned to Delhi Capitals (DC) while Kuldeep Yadav moved from DC to Lucknow Super Giants in a high-profile swap by the two sides. On Tuesday, Chennai Super Kings appointed former India quick Zaheer Khan as their head coach, while Kolkata Knight Riders would be looking for a new captain after Ajinkya Rahane retired from international and Indian cricket. Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, brought in Zubin Bharucha as director of performance.
The IPL has not yet announced the retention deadline, which is usually towards the end of November.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the defending IPL champions, having won back-to-back titles in 2025 and 2026.
