England's squad numbers for the World Cup have been announced, with captain Steven Gerrard wearing No. 4 while Wayne Rooney, as expected, has been given the No. 10 shirt.
Daniel Sturridge has been rewarded for his fine season with Liverpool by being appointed England's No. 9, following an illustrious list of strikers that includes the likes of Alan Shearer and Sir Bobby Charlton.
Hodgson all but confirmed Phil Jagielka (No. 6) and Gary Cahill (No. 5) as his first-choice centre-half pairing, and England's only out and out right-back, Glen Johnson, will wear No. 2.
There were no surprises at the top of the list, with Joe Hart as England's No. 1, while Jack Wilshere looks to be firmly in Roy Hodgson's first-team plans after he was handed the No. 7 shirt for the tournament.
Southampton trio Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw will wear No. 18, No. 20 and No. 23 respectively, while young attackers Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley take No. 19 and No. 23.
