Mulbarton Wanderers are "upset" after being ordered to replay their FA Cup victory over Woodford Town due to a mistake by the referee.
Mulbarton beat Woodford 2-1 in the second qualifying round of the famous cup on Saturday.
But Woodford lodged an appeal with the Football Association after spotting an error by the referee which swung the match in Mulbarton's favour.
In the 30th minute, Woodford scored a penalty but the referee overturned the goal due to encroachment into the area by their players.
The referee awarded an indirect free-kick to Mulbarton -- but Law 14 of the game states he should have ordered for the penalty to be retaken by Woodford.
Mulbarton have released a statement insisting that the FA initially said Woodford's appeal was "not permissible" which they "concur" with.
Mulbarton insist that further complaints from Woodford resulted in the matter being reviewed by an FA sub-committee of the Professional Game Board. Despite Mulbarton fighting back, the ruling is for the fixture to be replayed on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Mulbarton are "deeply upset and disappointed" by the decision. They also warn of setting a precedent for future FA Cup ties and "the integrity of the game as a whole."
Woodford thanked the FA for their "thorough consideration" and for "reaching a decision that ensures the tie can be concluded in accordance with FA Cup rules."
The winners of the replayed tie will meet Gloucester City at home on Saturday, Oct. 3.
