Georgia Tech CB Jaylen Mbakwe out of hospital

Georgia Tech cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe was released from the hospital Sunday after he was taken off the field on a stretcher in the third quarter of a 45-24 loss to Tennessee the previous night.

Mbakwe went to make a tackle, but instead his head collided with Jordan Walker's knee. Both players were injured as a result. Walker was eventually carried off the field by trainers, but Mbakwe stayed down on the turf for several minutes.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Georgia Tech said in a statement on Sunday he was taken to the hospital for "precautionary observation. He was evaluated overnight and has been released. Jaylen and Georgia Tech appreciate all who have taken the time to express concern and support."

Mbakwe posted early Sunday morning on his social media account, "I'm fine and feeling well."

Mbakwe transferred to Georgia Tech from Alabama, where he played in 22 games over two seasons.
