Redskins cut Devery Henderson

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Washington Redskins on Wednesday released veteran receiver Devery Henderson, who had spent the past nine seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Henderson had missed the past week while attending a funeral. Coach Mike Shanahan had said Monday that Henderson would return to practice Wednesday.

The 31-year-old Henderson did not stand out early in camp and the former speedy receiver failed to get much separation from defensive backs.

He has 245 career receptions for 4,377 yards and 20 touchdowns in his career.
