Wallabies captain Stephen Moore will sit out the Queensland Reds tour of Samoa in order to rest ahead of the Wallabies' three Test June series.
The Reds announced their 29-man squad following their disappointing 40-26 loss to the Western Force last night, which ended any chance of the Reds reaching the play-offs.
The Reds clash with the Blues next Friday is the first Super Rugby match to be played in Samoa and the first major rugby match to be played under lights at Apia Park National Stadium, and coincides with Samoa's 55th Anniversary of Independence celebrations.
"The players and staff are all excited to take part in this historic occasion," Reds head coach Nick Stiles said.
"I've had the privilege of touring Samoa with teams before. It's a wonderful country and I know we'll receive a warm welcome from the locals, who are incredibly passionate about Rugby.
"We've got a lot of players with Samoan heritage in our squad and being in Apia for the week to prepare for the game will allow us to spend plenty of time in the community, which the guys are really looking forward to.
"The team is bitterly disappointed with last night's performance, so it's good to be able to spend a week abroad together to continue to build on our season and work hard together to get a win against a tough New Zealand opponent."
Stiles blasted his team after the Reds squandered two Moore tries that put the Reds 26-23 in front with 20 minutes to go, to let in 17 unanswered points.
"I'm filthy, simple as that," Stiles said. "We can't sustain 80 minutes of football.
"We scored the first try and then we just go into a mode of 'the game's over', and taking soft options after that.
"We ended up getting the lead (back) and then we feel content and go into our shells again."
Stiles vowed he would spend the rest of the season blooding new talent after he slammed winger Eto Nabuli as "stupid" for the high shot that led to the team's second yellow card of the night.
Nick Frisby copped the other in the 44th minute, meaning the Reds played half the second stanza with 14 men.
With nothing left to play for, Stiles said he would play the kids.
"We've got some young guys coming through that we will use in the last three games to push them through, give them more minutes and chase victories," he said.
"(Maybe that will) get the group hungry ... because we're not there at the moment."
