PSL Invitational: F2 Logistics dominates Foton to take opening day win

The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers delivered a strong performance in the third set to complete a sweep of the Foton Tornadoes, 25-21, 25-21, 25-14, in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go Invitational Conference on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Cargo Movers nailed a huge straight-sets victory over a retooled Foton squad that debuted their formidable triple tower composed of PSL newbie Bea de Leon and sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat.

"We practiced faster attacks knowing that Foton is a tall team. If we attack slowly, their blockers will be able to reach it," said F2 coach Ramil de Jesus on their game plan.

The veteran spikers all showed up, with Kianna Dy topping with ten points and Ara Galang contributing with nine markers. Majoy Baron and Cha Cruz-Behag also helped secure the win with eight points apiece.

De Jesus admitted that they struggled with this conference's rule that all players should be fielded in, but they still managed to hold on in the second frame before finishing with a bang in the third.

"It's still early, all the teams are still adjusting. Hopefully, we can survive in the next games," the champion mentor said. "We need to work on our service receive as there were many instances when we couldn't keep the ball in play."

Santiago paced the Tornadoes with 12 points, while De Leon immediately made an impact with eight markers including a pair of aces. Manabat added seven points.
