Conor McGregor insists it has to be Max Holloway for final UFC fight

Conor McGregor has again insisted he only wants Max Holloway for his final UFC fight.

Back in July, Holloway (28-9) defeated McGregor (22-7) via TKO in just 69 seconds, after McGregor injured his right knee in the opening seconds of their welterweight bout in Las Vegas.

Speaking at the BKFC Glasgow post-fight news conference on Saturday, McGregor, 38, once again reiterated his desire to run it back with Holloway.

"It has to be Holloway," McGregor said at the BKFC Glasgow post-fight press conference.

"Just do the f------ thing again. Just do the thing again. The guy didn't engage once. He's the one that called for the stoppage in the fight. He said 'ref, ref!'

"He's the one stopping the fight. Imagine I just said 'yay!' and jumped the fence. I won! He doesn't want to f------ fight.

"On the one leg, he wasn't coming near me. It's so shocking and so heartbreaking to me and I'm still f------ dealing with it. It has to be Holloway. Just f------ dust it off, re-do it."

On the rehab, McGregor stated he's looking for a return potentially before the summer next year and also hinted if Holloway isn't available he could look elsewhere for an opponent.

"I'm on my way back," McGregor said.

"What's it now November? Three months I'm off of surgery. I done this injury before and returned within nine months. So nine months is pre-summer. I just want to go again and again."

"Something might happen, I don't know. But a fighter that fights me, put some respect on my name. If you're not a world champion fighter, if you've not got world accolades to your name, don't utter my f------ name."

The fight against Holloway at UFC 329 was McGregor's first appearance since July 2021 and he has now suffered serious lower-body injuries in each of past two fights, including a fractured leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021.
