PHILADELPHIA -- Sixers forward Jaylen Brown missed Friday's NBA Cup game against the New York Knicks because of a left patella injury, the team announced.
Shortly before Philadelphia's 98-93 win, the team reported that Brown had left knee soreness after Wednesday's win over the Pacers and then listed him as questionable for Friday's game before downgrading him to doubtful.
With Brown out, coach Nick Nurse started forward Dean Wade against the defending NBA champions. When asked if Brown's injury was concerning, Nurse didn't provide much clarity.
"Well, we want him out there, right? So, I just know he can't play tonight," he said. "He's out tonight, that's what I know."
Brown has been perhaps the team's best perimeter defender so far this season, while also third in points per game (20.6).
