FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The short-handed New England Patriots lost two more key players in the first half of Sunday's 45-17 rout of the Las Vegas Raiders, as speedy running back TreVeyon Henderson injured an ankle and starting left tackle Will Campbell his right knee in a span of three plays.
The team officially ruled out both players midway through the third quarter.
Sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Campbell is believed to have suffered a knee sprain and will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm.
Coach Mike Vrabel didn't have an official update on either player after the game.
Henderson, who complements starter Rhamondre Stevenson, entered the day second on the Patriots with 141 rushing yards on 38 carries and one touchdown. The injury occurred at the end of an 11-yard run early in the second quarter when he was tackled by safety Jeremy Chinn along the sideline and came up hobbling.
Meanwhile, Campbell left the game two plays later when his right leg was landed on at the end of a 4-yard run by Stevenson.
Campbell, a 2025 first-round pick, tore the MCL in his right knee last season. His shaky play upon his return from that injury, which was in the spotlight in a Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks, sparked questions about his long-term viability as quarterback Drake Maye's blindside protector -- which he had mostly answered with a higher level of play in 2026.
The Patriots have been snakebit by injuries, having placed 19 players on injured reserve this year, which already surpassed their total from all of last season (17).
"We hate to see it," Stevenson said. "We want everybody on this football team to be available and help us win. But the game of football, the NFL, that's kind of going to come.
"This year has been a lot more than we would want, but it's kind of 'next man up' mentality. It speaks volumes to the people, practice squad [players], those who don't get many opportunities, how locked in they come to work every day. I'm proud of them. We have to keep it going until we get guys back."
The Patriots turned to first-year player Corey Kiner as Henderson's replacement Sunday. He had six carries for 52 yards but also lost a fumble.
Caleb Lomu, the 2025 first-round pick, took over for Campbell.
"Opportunity is what this league is about, and there's a lot of guys that had the opportunity to step up," veteran tight end Hunter Henry said. "Obviously, we don't want to lose any more guys, you hate to see that, but whenever that happens, it's another opportunity for another guy to step up and fill that role and be able to thrive in that opportunity."
The Patriots (3-2) host the Jets (2-3) next Sunday.
