England's plans for the first Test against South Africa in Bloemfontein tomorrow continue to be hit by injury and illness.
Gloucester prop Nick Wood, who was to have made his international debut this weekend, has been ruled out after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in training yesterday.
He will be replaced by Saracens' Kevin Yates, who gains a first England appearance for almost 10 years.
Yates last featured for his country against Argentina in June 1997, and he breaks John Bentley's England record for the longest wait between caps of nine years and 44 days.
