Bren Esports maintains top seed in MPL 2018 final week

After six weeks of action, Bren Esports stayed on top of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League - Philippines 2018.

Their campaign in Season 2, however, was far more challenging that Season 1. The former champions held on to an unbeaten record in Season 1. This unblemished record didn't hold up this season as they fell twice in the entire season, the second coming in the final week against ArkAngel.Ownage.

ArkAngel.Ownage was a team with momentum on their side entering their final match of the season following a 2-0 record in the previous week. This momentum was used to a massive success against Bren Esports. Ownage looked sharp in the first game with a team composition easer to execute led by Lembot on the Claude. Bren Esports fought back in Game 2 but ultimately fell to Ownage with Lembot once again showing his skill. This time it was his timing and positioning on Helcurt that just tore Bren Esports apart.

Despite the loss, Bren Esports just barely held the top seed after Day 1 but Execration and Cignal Ultra had the opportunity to contest the titans of the league. This meant that Bren Esports had to earn three points to secure their spot on top of the league. The team tasked to challenge this was HappyFeet. HappyFeet saw their season come to a close after falling to ArkAngel.WickedMinds but also showed that they could pull out an upset following their Week 5 upset on Cignal Ultra. For HappyFeet it was a chance to play spoiler to Bren Esports.

The first game between the two teams was interesting from the draft itself. On paper, both teams looked pretty strong with Bren Esports getting Claude in their first rotation and for HappyFeet it was Leomord and Chou. The rest of the composition was nothing out of the ordinary; Bren Esports had the Kaja - Akai tank combo while HappyFeet had Chou and Lolita as their tanks. It all boiled down to execution and execute the titans did. They looked like they were back to form being able to get pick off members of HappyFeet while also avoiding the engage from HappyFeet. Bren Esports eventually closed out the game.

Both teams decided to test their mettle in Game 2 with Chou and Akai taken off the board, it forced the teams to dig deeper in their hero pool as they decided to pull out Angela and Minotaur. Minotaur proved the better of the two, he gave Bren Esports tankiness, area healing, and an additional source of crowd control. Bren Esports charged their way into the base of HappyFeet to secure the coveted three points. The titans ended their regular season with a 7-2 record but with a massive 20 points, two points ahead of the second team, Cignal Ultra.

Day 2 had a surprising victor in SXC.Imbalance who took down Execration in impressive fashion. SXC.Imbalance sat at the bottom of the Lower Bracket prior to Day 2 but the sweep against Execration bumped them up to sixth. This also gave Cignal Ultra the opening to secure a higher spot for themselves.

Because of the shuffle at the end of the regular season, a dream match has opened itself up in the playoff Upper Bracket where the two fan favorites, Bren Esports and Execration are set to face each other.
